In the home buying process, things that home buyers value when searching for a home often vary with each age group.
For example, members of Generation Y like smart home technology, open-floor plans, and accessible locations, while members of Generation X may focus on quality school districts, garage/storage facilities, and upgraded kitchens. Baby Boomers often value hardwood flooring, laundry rooms, and energy efficient windows, while the Silent Generation are favorable to smaller homes with minimal maintenance, master bedrooms and bathrooms on the main level, and locations close to family and friends.
Here is an infographic that looks at how the home buying process differs with each age group.
